Manual handling is the cause of more than a third of all reported injuries which result in employees being off work for more than 3 days.

The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (as amended 2002) require employers to carry out risk assessments of
manual handling operations that their employees undertake and to provide appropriate training. Manual handling covers a wide variety of tasks including, lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing and pulling, where these are not carried out properly there is a risk of injury.

Employers are required by legislation to train all employees involved in manual handling activities along with reducing the risk of injury.

Be able to lift, carry, push and pull objects safely.

All personnel involved in manual handling activities.

The course has been developed to assist delegates recognise the hazards and risks involved in manual handling, and help them develop the skills necessary to carry out manual handling operation safely and effectively.
