Domestic Electrical Installation (inc 2393 -10 Part P)
This 10 day Domestic Electrical Installation course provides foundation skills for the installation of wiring in dwellings. This course is a good introduction for those who have no, or very little experience or knowledge in electrical installation work. It is aimed at DIYers, gas engineers, kitchen/bathroom fitters, plumbers, builders, anyone who is looking for a career change and need to learn the basic skills.
A Level 3 Qualification 'Applicable Building Regulations' for Domestic Electrical Installations, (commonly referred to as 'Part 'P'), is an on-line, multiple-choice, open-book exam, which will be held toward the end of the course.

Objectives:
- Understand the Applications of protective and residual current devices used in domestic installations
- Be able to select cables for current carrying capacity and voltage drop
- Demonstrate an understanding of lighting installations
- Understand earthing arrangements and bonding requirements in dwellings
- Understand the importance of earth fault loop path
- Demonstrate an understanding of safe isolation procedures
- Demonstrate an understanding of electrical inspection and testing
- Demonstrate an understanding of the requirements for Special Locations and Installations
- Understand the importance of of a pre-work survey
- Understand 3-phase supplies, Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Electricity
- Demonstrate an understanding of Electrical Safety, Legislation, Regulations, Standards and Terminology
- Demonstrate 'Underpinning Knowledge and Understanding' of the course objectives, multiple-choice questions will be used during the classwork theory activities
- Use the IET Publications, '18th Edition Wiring Regulations', and also 'Building Regulations for Electricians'
Features:
Identify and use, safely, hand tools commonly used in electrical installation work
Correct removal of cable sheathing and insulation from cables
Correct termination of conductors
Correctly select cable and equipment to complete electrical installation work
Read and interpret correctly Layout Diagrams, Circuit Diagrams and Wiring Diagrams
Install 1-way; 2-way; and intermediate (3-way), lighting circuits
Install socket outlet radial, and ring circuits, and spurs
Install and fix equipment securely and correctly as per the layout diagrams
Install cables between the equipment and secure with appropriate cable clips
Correctly terminate the wiring of the equipment as per wiring diagrams
Correctly use Electrical Testing Equipment appropriate to the tests to be completed in the correct sequence, and the test equipment for correct isolation procedures
Visually inspect the completed installation
Test the completed installation using appropriate test equipment for both 'Dead' tests and for 'Live' tests
Commission the completed circuits to ensure the circuit works and complies to the 18th. Edition Wiring Regulations and Applicable Building Regulations
Correctly connect 'Earth Bonding' to service pipework such as gas and water pipes
Correctly terminate steel wire armoured (SWA) cable glands
Correctly terminate compression glands
